The New Wolverine Jazz
Orchestra ("NWJO") hails from Sydney, Australia. They have been
twice nominated for the prestigious Australian Entertainment "Mo"
Awards for Excellence. They are an internationally acclaimed, authentic
jazz orchestra, playing great music of the 20s, 30s and 40s.
This is the sixth tour of the USA for the NWJO.
They currently have eight collections of jazz music available on CD. Their
latest CD was recorded and mixed in the studios of OKOM LLC located right
here in Lafayette, New Jersey.

Stewart Binsted
Banjo and guitar. Stewart is a part-time musician playing with a range
of traditional jazz bands in Sydney. He directs his own TV post production
company. Stewart has recorded all 7 NWJO albums, and toured the USA and
England with the NWJO. Stewart lives in Seaforth, a suburb of Sydney.
Neil Macbeth
Drums, washboard and vocals. Neil is one of the original members of the
NWJO. He is a consultant psychologist, and has played and recorded with
leading traditional jazz groups over the years. Neil has toured the USA
and England with the NWJO. Neil lives in Randwick, an eastern suburb of
Sydney.
Jim Elliott
Trombone, clarinet, tenor sax, and arranger. Jim is a full-time musician,
following his career as an Accountant. He regularly plays and records
on piano, all brass, flutes, clarinets and saxophones with leading Sydney
dance, jazz and classical groups. He has toured the USA and England with
the NWJO. Jim lives in French's Forest, a northern suburb of Sydney.
Robert Smith
Pianist and arranger. Robert is also one of the original members of the
NWJO. Robert is a full-time teacher/performer of classical piano and pipe
organ. For many years, he was a full-time choir master/organist at churches
in Australia as well as in England where he also taught pipe organ and
piano. Robert often gives public recitals on all major Sydney and NSW
concert pipe organs, including the Sydney Opera House. Robert lives in
Mittagong in the southern highlands of New South Wales.
Geoff Power
Cornet, trombone and arranger with NWJO, plus tuba, trumpet and flugel
horn. Geoff is a full-time brass performer/teacher, and plays with most
leading Sydney dance and jazz groups, classical and marching groups. Leads
and has recorded with his own jazz group, and plays trombone with "The
Glenn Miller Orchestra" when it comes to Sydney. He has recorded
on two NWJO CDs and has toured Australia, USA and Germany. Geoff lives
in Beacon Hill, a northern suburb of Sydney.
Trevor Rippingale
Band coordinator and arranger, vocalist/compere and an NWJO original member.
Plays clarinet, soprano, alto, c-melody and bass saxophones. He is a full-time
musician, following a career as an Organization Developer. He has played
and/or recorded with leading Australian bands. He has toured the USA,
England, Europe, Thailand, New Caledonia, and all states of Australia.
Trevor lives in Seaforth, a suburb of Sydney.
Harry Harman
Tuba and string bass. Founder and now patron of the Sydney Jazz Club.
Harry is a full-time musician, and also plays the banjo. He has toured
Australia, New Guinea and Asia with other bands, and the USA and England
with the NWJO. Harry lives in Kanwai on the central coast of New South
Wales. |
