Wow! I thought I was gonna get lambasted for liking Hokum, and instead, I find that I'm not alone. I am delighted, to say the least.
Many people tend to think that others who agree with them, are brilliant thinkers. I do too. But seriously folks, what really impressed me, is the fact that so many of us are open-minded enough to accept it all.
As one of us mentioned that the guys in the Spike Jones band were top players. Not only that, but they were able to do that stuff without laughing.
One of the Jones band's recordings was titled "Dinner Music for People Who Aren't Very Hungry." Corny? Sure. Funny? YES!
George Rock, the rotund trumpet man with the Jones Band is the guy who sang "All I Want For Christmas is my Two Front Teeth." He was an ace player. Did you folks know that George was with the Turk Murphy Band for a while. I heard from one of the guys, that he was terrible - at first, that is. After he understood what he was supposed to do, he was fabulous!
Speaking of the Hoosier Hot Shots, there's a website with info on them, and loads of tunes you can hear.
I missed out on the Seven Little Polar Bears. I wonder if they were they related to the Cliquot Club Eskimos.

And leave us not forget the dulcet tones of the Schnicklefritz band, Hoosier Hot Shots, Six Jumping Jacks, Seven Little Polar Bears and the Korn Kobblers. Loved 'em all!
