Hey Bruce;
As far as I am concerned, "Trad Jazz" is one of the many terms used to
describe OKOM or jazz that is based on the various styles of playing
developed in the late teens, 1920's and early 1930's here in the US and
adopted and modified by some jazz musicians from around the world. Each
set of musicians in a band puts their slant on what a band plays and for
me, that is one of the many great things about jazz bands. Two different
bands can play the same song, one right after the other and will not
sound exactly the same because the musician's sounds and phrasing are
somewhat different. The rhythmic patterns, the melody line and the
harmonies and counter point can be and usually are very different from
one jazz band to the next.
