Hi GJB Fans,
FREE concert in Newtown, tomorrow!
Wed Aug 15th, 7-8PM, at Ashlar Village, Newtown, CT., with Harvey Tibbs
(tromb) and Bob Price (banjo). Outdoors, weather permitting. Take Exit 11 off
I84, two rights, under I84, right onto Toddy Hill Road, 2 miles on right.
MUSIC MOUNTAIN
We had a great time at Music Mountain this past Saturday, August 11th. Jim
Fryer and Bob Price were at their best. My favorites were Jim's incredible
rendition of Ory's Creole Trombone, and Bob's blistering performance on Lover
and Lover Come Back to me. We also did Runnin Wild, Right to Sing the Blues,
Riverboat Shuffle, Two Sleepy People, Hands Across the Table, more! It was a
beautiful day in Falls Village. As I arrived I saw many fans picnicking on the
beautiful grounds. Some fans stayed outside the whole time and enjoyed the
concert under the stars. At the end of the concert we marched outside to be
with them, then we marched back to the stage for our final chorus. We had a
ball, as did the packed house. Thanks for being there!
Happy Birthday Bob Bequillard and Noel Kaletsky. They're now 145 years old!
Bill's Seafood Jazz Lunch……No More!
The Heartbeat Jazz Quintet will not be returning to Bill's Seafood in
September to continue it's very successful Jazz Lunch series. The Wednesday
tradition, 11:45AM to 1:45PM, has been cancelled. Apparently the few that complained
that the music was too loud carry more weight than the vast majority that
loved the performances as presented. I have to be honest with you, when we
played a hot number, and you all vigorously applauded, we loved it. However,
when the manager came to us two minutes later to say that it was too loud, our
bubble burst and it stopped being fun. We'll miss all of you, but we will not
miss “can you tone it down a bit”. Please stay tuned as we contemplate
taking our show where we can play some Jazz as it should be played!
SUNDAYS at Marisa's in Trumbull! We'll see you again on Sunday, Sep 9th,
6-8:30, once again with Jane Campedelli, and trombonist Harvey Tibbs! Be sure to
make your reservations early, like yesterday! Remember, there is no cover
or minimum at Marisa's, but because the food is fabulous, you're going to want
to order dinner. Marisa's is very easy to get to: take the Merritt Parkway
toward Trumbull, get off at Exit 48, head north for about 3 miles, and it's on
your right. This is a good size restaurant, with plenty of seating and
parking, and a nice dance floor too! From Guilford, it took me only 35 minutes to
get there. Marisa's address is 6540 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611. The
telephone number is 203-459-4225. Call now, before it sells out again! Only
one other date scheduled for 2007, Sunday, Oct 21st!
The Beachhead Restaurant, 3 Cosey Beach Ave East Haven, CT. We're doing it
again! We'll be back on Sunday, Sep 30th, 6-8:30PM. Call 203-469-5450 for
dinner reservations right away. This is a great spot, with great food, but
limited seating, so make your dinner reservation now!! And yes, the owners have
promised to make room for dancing this time! Check out the Beachhead's web site,
beachheadct.com.
Bill Logozo's Heartbeat Jazz Band will be at Olivers in Essex on Thursday,
Sep 6th, 7-10PM, with Skip Hughes ! This is a great spot, nice casual
atmosphere, and good food at a reasonable price. Of course the music is hot hot hot!
Dancing too! Look for them at Olivers the first Thursday of each month.
Contact Bill Logozzo at Bill @nutmegchrome.com for information on the band and
how to order CDs.
