Check out the following: (Call first, not 100% sure they are still active)
If Yaged is still there, see him. He plays American Songbook with his
wonderful trio. (And some trio Dixieland if you can call it that) Sometimes
some great sit-ins at this fun venue. He is there Tuesday through Sundays.

Sol Yaged at Il Valentino Restaurant, 7 PM to 11 PM in the Sutton Hotel 330
E. 56th Street, between 1st and 2nd Avenues. 212-355-0001 His usual group is
Rick Stone on the guitar and Bob Arkin (the younger brother of the actor
Alan Arkin) on bass, but he often invites friends to sit in. You might
remember Yaged (82 0r so now) as the guy who wrote the music for Steve Allen
in The Benny Goodman Story while teaching Allen how to play clarinet. Often
at the Metropole back in the 1950s. Great player, great Italian restaurant.
Friendly vibe.

Also check out Birdland on Friday Night if you like Big Band Music. From
5:30 to 7:30, Lew Anderson's All American Big Band swings the pre-theater
crowd. 315 W. 44th St - (212) 581-3080

There is A LOT of music in NYC and a lot of jazz, (but not too much trad
jazz) If you are adventurous, you might like Nicholas Peyton's group which
I believe is at the Iridium that weekend. You might wish to check out the
below web site for a comprehensive list of jazz/blues music venues.

Enjoy the big apple.
