Sorry for responding so late. Bruce, that private party where we met was in
Mendham, not Princeton, for the record--when the jazz historians get to work.
That was a fine band you were playing in with Jeff Barnhart.
John Gill told me he made more money as Johnny Tupelo than as the excellent
jazzman he is. Re the country roots of OKOM, I am reminded of Buddy Rich, who
died 20 years ago this April of a brain tumor. While being wheeled in for
what would be his final surgery, a nurse asked him if he had any allergies and
Buddy responded, "Yeah. Country and western music!"
