Hi GJB Fans,

WOW, WOW, and WOW again!   Last Wednesday at the Bill's Seafood Jazz Lunch 
was spectacular!  Dirck Spicer played his vibes for the first time since 1985, 
and what a session it was!   Playing tunes like Stompin at the Savoy, China 
Boy, Runnin Wild, etc., Dirck was just fabulous.   And, adding to the excitement, 
all inspired by Dirck's playing, were Bill Lezotte on guitar, and Noel 
Kaletsky   on clarinet joining Sherman Kahn, Donn Doucette, Bill Logozzo and myself 
for what turned out to be a very memorable session.   For those of you that go 
way back with the Galvanized Jazz Band, I'm sure you remember that Dirck 
Spicer (bass) and Vince Tortora (piano) were the first musicians to play at the 
Millpond Tavern back in 1970.   In the early days, they were there Thursday 
through Saturday.   The GJB started its Sunday sessions in Jan,1971.   In the 
1980's, we convinced Dirck to dust off the vibes for some special gigs.   In 1984, 
on New Years Day, the GJB had one of its best sessions ever, with Dirck on 
vibes, Howard Alden on guitar, and Noel Kaletsky on clarinet and sax.   We just 
pulled it out of the archives, and we hope to issue a CD of that session soon. 
  Stay tuned.   If we're lucky, Dirck will dust off those vibes more often!

Jazz Lunch at Bill's Seafood!  What a great mid week interlude!  Only 1

The Heartbeat Jazz Quintet with Bill Sinclair, Sherman Kahn, Donn Doucette, 
Bill Logozzo, and Fred Vigorito are at Bill's Seafood, Boston Post Road, 
Westbrook every Wednesday from 11:45AM to 1:45.   Our special guest this Wednesday,  
May 23rd is the king of sing-a-long, founder of 'Your Father's Moustache, 
Joel Schiavone, on banjo and vocals, and another surprise vocalist.   On May 
30th, our last Jazz Lunch until September, we welcome back from Germany our 
regular pianist, Bill Sinclair!   The food is great at Bill's, and very reasonably 
priced.   The music is hot, and cool, and soft, and loud, and always exciting!

Sundays, 4-8, it's Scott Kahn, Ray Churchill, and Charlie Salerno.

That's right, East Haven, where I was born 64 years ago! The location and views 
are spectacular!   Right on Long Island Sound!   It's our first appearance at 
the Beachhead.   In fact, it's our first club date ever in East Haven.   It's 
dinner and dancing to the Galvanized Jazz Quintet.  Call 203-469-5450 for 
dinner reservations now.  This is a great spot, with great food (I ate there 
recently!), but limited seating, so make your reservation now!!   This could be 
the start of something BIG.   Remember that other Sunday gig we had in 
Northford!

Bill Logozo's Heartbeat Jazz Band will be at Olivers in Essex on Thursday, 
June 7th, 7-10PM, with Skip Hughes!   This is a great spot, nice atmosphere, and 
good food at a reasonable price.    Of course the music is hot hot hot!   
Dancing too!   Look for them at Olivers the first Thursday of each month. Contact

SUNDAYS at Marisa's in Trumbull!
We look forward to seeing you all again at Marisa's on  Sunday,   June 10th 
with trombonist Craig Grant, and vocalist Jane Campedelli.    Mark your 
calendar!   This will be our last Sunday at Marisa's until after the summer, so don't 
miss this very special performance.  Be sure to make your reservations early, 
like yesterday!   Remember, there is no cover or minimum at Marisa's, but 
because the food is fabulous, you're going to want to order dinner.   Marisa's is 
very easy to get to: take the Merritt Parkway toward Trumbull, get off at 
Exit 48, head north for about 3 miles, and it's on your right.   This is a good 
size restaurant, with plenty of seating and parking.   From Guilford, it took 
me only 35 minutes to get there.   Marisa's address is 6540 Main Street,

sells out again!
