The November edition of the Hot Jazz Channel's radio show
(www.radiojazz.co.uk) is a reaffirmation of all that's good in traditional
jazz.
Starting off with Jim Cullum's band and Jelly Roll Morton's The Chant, Alvin
Alcorn and the New Iberia Stompers then explore Hindustan after which the
Oriental Jazzband (from Holland) work out on Morton's Frog-I-More-Rag. That
opening trio is backed by a segment in which listeners first hear that old
standard Fidgety Feet, then A Porter's Love Song To A Chambermaid followed
by Snake Rag - the bands in this segment are the Fryer-Barnhart
International Jazz Band, Michael White's New Orleans Liberty Street 5 and
the St. Louis Stompers Classic Jazz Band.
The "back to the classics" segment this month features The trios of Sidney
Bechet and Jelly Roll Morton and then solo pianist Eubie Blake. The swing
segment this time features classic tracks by the Harry James Orchestra,
Peggy Lee and Django Reinhardt with Rex Stewart.
For the final six track segment tracks are included from new CDs by the
Swiss-French South Side Jazz Serenaders with Matthew Seuffert, veteran
pianist Lem Fowler's Washboard Wonders, the Hot Antic Jazz Band (France),
Louis Nelson's Serenaders (Anglo American), Kid Ory & Red Allen in concert
and finally - Fred Vigorito's Galvanised Jazz Band with Sammy Rimington,
David Paquette, Joel Helleny and Noel Kaletsky - among others...
The Hot Jazz Channel radio shows are the internet's most popular traditional
jazz productions and regularly boast audiences of over 100,000. The
programmes are devised and presented by Brian Harvey and engineered and
produced by John Booth.
