***This* *Sunday, Feb. 23rd *
and *next Sunday, March 2nd** *
at the* Ear Inn <http://www.earinn.com>, 8:00-11:00 pm*
the EarRegulars will be featuring *
*
*Mark "Lopey" Lopeman on tenor sax and clarinet,
*
*Matt Munisteri <http://www.mattmunisteri.com> on guitar*,
*Joel Forbes* on bass,
and me, *Jon Kellso <http://www.kellsojazz.com> *on trumpet.
We're going to be debuting some further than usual off the beaten path tunes
done by Red Allen and Coleman Hawkins* 75 years ago in 1933--so come check
it out--hot stuff! This year is Red's Centennial.
*"The EarRegulars"* are at the Ear Inn every Sunday night.
Ear is at *326 Spring St. *
(between Greenwich and Washington streets), almost all the way to the West
Side Highway. *212.226.9060.*
It's one of the oldest bars in NYC, with a very interesting history going
back to 1817.
No cover or minimum, but please visit our friend Phillup DeBucket (that's a
subtle way of saying we have a tip jar).
There's yummy inexpensive food and imbibables served late, Victor, the
coolest bartender ever, excellent waitstaff...and it's always a fun, casual
hang!

***--Lopey, Mark Shane, Joel Forbes, and Rob Garcia will be performing these
Red Allen/Hawkins gems with me at the Pee Wee Stomp:
*Sunday, March 2nd, at 1 or 2 pm* (I need to clarify!) I'm leading a quintet
at the *Pee Wee Memorial Stomp <http://www.njjs.org/p/events.html>* at the
Birchwood Manor in Whippany NJ.
We'll be celebrating centennials of trumpeters Red Allen (concentrating on
his great records from '33 with Coleman Hawkins), Bunny Berigan, Hot Lips
Page and Max Kaminsky.
The event is from noon to 5pm. This year's performers will be:
The Smith Street Society Jazz Band,
Jon-Erik Kellso quintet,
Barbara Rosene,
& George Gee's Jump, Jivin' Wailers Swing Orchestra.
There is a dance floor for those who wanna cut a rug.
Advance prices: New Jersey Jazz Society Members $25, Nonmembers $30. Tickets
at the door are $35 for members and nonmembers. Tickets will be held at the
door for all orders received after February 23.
Call the NJJS hotline, 1-800-303-NJJS (6557). Leave your number and someone
will call you back.
see ya!
