Hi GJB Fans,
The Galvanized Jazz Band Came to Hamden On Sunday, Jan 27th, 2-3:30PM,and
performed at the Thornton Wilder Auditorium at the Miller Cultural Complex, 2901
Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, as part of the Hamden Art's coulcil's concert series.
Our special guests for this performance were Jim Fryer and Joel Schiavone, and
what an afternoon it was! A sell-out performance, standing room only.
Joel and Jim were in rare form, and the house rocked for 90 minutes, ending with
a standing ovation. What a great venue! We'll definitely be back!
SPECIAL CONCERT featuring the Underground All-Stars & Abbie!
Monday, February 4, 2008, 8 - 9:30 PM. The Bickford Theatre/Morris Museum,
It's the 6th annual Groundhog Jam jazz concert. The address is Normandy
Heights Rd, Morristown, NJ. On Columbia Turnpike/Road (County Road 510) at the
corner of Normandy Heights Road, east of downtown Morristown. This is a
300-seat hall with generous parking on site. Wheelchair access. Weeknight concerts
are one long set (8 to 9:30 PM). Tickets are generally $13 in advance, but $15
at the door. Tickets may be purchased via credit card over the phone by
calling the box office at (973) 971-3706. The box office can also provide

Bill Logozzo's Heartbeat Jazz Band will be at Olivers in Essex on Thursday,
Feb 7th, 7-10PM, with Skip Hughes and Gim Burton! This is a great spot, nice
casual atmosphere, and good food at a reasonable price. Of course the music is
hot hot hot! Dancing too! Look for them at Olivers usually on the first
Thursday of each month. They'll also be doing a Jazz Service at the Cheshire

Shiny Lapel Trio
My wife and I and our good friends Pete and Casey, went to the Griswold INN
in Essex two Tuesdays ago. We also met fans Frank and Maria there. I just
wanted you all to know that we had a ball. The Shiny Lapel Trio (plus one) is
fabulous. They do everything from Sinatra to Prima to Roy Orbison, with
great arrangements, and lots of excitement. It was a packed house, and we
stayed till the end at 11PM. They play every Tuesday from 8 to 11PM. Get there
early to get a seat.
Galvanized Jazz Band Coming to Westport
On Sunday, Feb 10th, 2-3:30pm, we'll be in concert at the Westport Senior
Center, 21 Imperial Ave., Westport, with guest trombonist Skip Hughes, and guest
pianist Herb Gardner! Free. Call 203-341-5099 for reservations and details.
SUNDAYS at Marisa's in Trumbull!
We'll be there on Sunday, Feb 17th, 2008, 6-8:30, with guest trombonist Herb
Gardner! Mom's 94th birthday is the next day, so let's make this special for
our oldest fan!! Remember, there is no cover or minimum at Marisa's, but
because the food is fabulous, you're going to want to order dinner. There's
dancing too! Marisa's is very easy to get to: take the Merritt Parkway toward
Trumbull, get off at Exit 48, head north for about 3 miles, and it's on your
right. This is a good size restaurant, with plenty of seating and parking, and

Special Jazz Concert in Deep River, produced by Stu Ingersoll, Sunday, Feb
24th 3-5pm at Valley Regional High School, Kelsey Hill Road, Deep River, CT.
It's the Northeast Traditional Jazz Ensemble with Scott Philbrick cornet, Dan
Levinson reeds, Herb Gardner trombone, Jimmy Mazzy banjo and vocals, Art
Hovey tuba and string bass, Robin Verdier piano, Ed Stockmal drums, Jane

Special Appearance, Sunday, March 2, 6:30PM at Ciao, 964 Chapel Street, on
the New Haven green, behind Zinc. It's Joel Schiavone, Noel Kaletsky, and Andy
Rubenoff in a performance entitled "That's what I like about the South".
The $20 admission includes food - something more than hors doeurves, but not

The Hot Steamed Jazz Festival is set for 2008! Mark your calendars for June
27, 28 and 29. We'll be there along with a host of other talented musicians for
