The Smith Street Society Jazz Band

Smith Street Society Jazz Band has played hundreds engagements for corporate functions and concerts and shows throughout the country and in Canada and Europe. Smith Street has performed on camera (and on the soundtrack) in two major motion pictures (one for Dino DiLaurentiis and one for MGM).

Their credentials are outstanding. In addition to performing for IBM, Pepsico, Mobil and General Foods, they have played at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, at the Newport Jazz Festival, The Sacramento Dixieland Jubilee and at the Breda Holland Jazz Festival.

Marlo Thomas hired Smith Street to play Phil Donahue's surprise birthday party at NBC-TV in New York. They've also played in Charlotte Ford's living room, for John McEnroe at his home and at Marvin Hamlisch's wedding.

The Smith Street Society Jazz Band has appeared with concert orchestras in a presentation of Orchestra and Jazz Band. They’ve performed a series of concerts with the Delaware Symphony and made appearances with the Jackson Mississippi Symphony and the Canton Ohio Symphony. Smith Street has performed three times, with orchestra, at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.

The Smith Street Society Jazz Band has opened for Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Peggy Lee, Al Hirt, Rodney Dangerfield and Cab Calloway.

The Smith Street Society was the backup band for actor/singer/banjo player George Segal. They played sold-out concerts from El Paso to New York, a special Tony Awards show and they appeared with him on the Tonight Show.

The group performs with cabaret diva Julie Wilson. They have played concerts with Julie at Town Hall and for the Highlights in Jazz series. The band performed several times on New Year's Eve at the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel, in New York City.

Each year, Smith Street performs at the Hearst mansion in East Hampton (8 years). They were seen twice, as guests on Gordon Elliot's Doorknock Dinners on the Food TV Network.
